Tyréns worked with Tengbom and provided structural engineering services for the conceptual design. The building is 266 meters above ground, has 61 floors and 4 basement levels.
The lateral system consists of a central core, outriggers, outrigger columns and belt trusses. The central core is reinforced concrete from the foundation to floor level 31 where it transitions to a steel braced frame core. The braced frame core is used in the hotel to facilitate lines of sight for the center atrium.
The outrigger system uses 8 composite mega-columns from the foundation to floor 32. The mega-columns are 50 mm steel box columns filled with high-strength concrete. From floor 33 to 54 there are 16 concrete outrigger columns. These additional columns were added at the hotel to facilitate the 230 mm flat plate floor. The additional 8 concrete outrigger columns at the hotel level are transferred to the 8 composite mega-columns at mechanical level 32 by the belt trusses.
Outrigger trusses span from the core to the outrigger columns at mechanical levels 17, 32 and 54. The building was analyzed using ETABS.
